Pastoral Support

All staff work tirelessly at our school to ensure that children feel safe and ready to learn.

Class teachers, Learning Support Assistants, office and kitchen staff all go above and beyond in order to build positive relationships with children so that they know who to go to when things become difficult.

Mrs Ingram leads the pastoral work in school, working with children in school and supporting our families.

Work that she does with children includes:

  • Teaching mindfulness across the school,

  • Delivering sessions that develop children’s skills in regulating their emotions,

  • Therapeutic play,

  • Bereavement support,

  • Sessions to build resilience,

  • Delivering therapeutic interventions such as Drawing and Talking or Sand therapy,

  • Carrying out specific programmes to develop children’s understanding of friendships, emotions and managing anger,

  • Leading the lunchtime club and breaktime clubs where required.

Mrs Ingram also signposts families to support available outside of school, such as the school nurse service, Early Help, and a range of workshops and courses available to families.

She can be contacted through your child’s class teacher, the school office email or by getting in touch with the school SENDCo. There is a referral system in school if you think your child would benefit from some extra support, and this can be done by first discussing this with your child’s class teacher.

As well as working with children and families, Inclusion and Pastoral staff work very closely with a range of outside agencies including Social Care, Family Support Workers and private therapists to ensure that there are good channels of communication and that children are fully supported inside and outside of school.
