The School Council is made up of 1 child from each class in Years 2-6. The Councillors are elected by their peers and represent their classes' views, concerns and ideas. The Year 6 Councillors also have the special job of representing the Foundation Stage and Year 1 classes. The School Council meets every 2 - 3 weeks, although sometimes we meet more often if we have issues or events to sort out. There are suggestion boxes in each class which are brought along to meetings where any ideas inside are discussed.
We have a strong link with the Leicester Animal Rescue Centre. We raise money by running a stall at the summer fete and we organize a collection of food for the animals at Christmas time. We usually visit the Centre in the Summer Term.
We also coordinate the raising of money for a sponsored child who is supported by the charity EveryChild. Our sponsored child is a little boy who lives in Malawi and is 6 years old. We have a collection rota so that each year group can bring in spare change each term.
Animal Rescue Centre 2010
On 13th December, Mick and Judy from the Leicester Animal Rescue Centre visited school to pick up our ‘hamper’ of cat and dog food which we are sure will give all the animals a very Happy Christmas.
They brought their dog, Dazzle, with them and he enjoyed lots of strokes from us!
Thank you to everyone who brought in food.
