Welcome to the Market Harborough C of E Primary School
Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

YOUR PTA NEEDS YOU!
Every parent and carer with a child at the school is invited to be an active member of the PTA, as are all the teachers.
What does the PTA do?
The PTA organises a number of events and activities throughout the school year, ranging from the Christmas fair and the summer fete, to smaller, regular events like the school discos and the C of E cinema.
The main aim of PTA events is to raise as much extra money as possible for the school. They also, however, make a valuable contribution to the social life of the school community by providing children, parents, carers and teachers with the opportunity to have fun together while raising money for the school. Getting involved in the PTA is a great way to meet other parents and carers and make new friends.
The PTA committee, which is elected at the PTA's AGM in mid September, holds two or three meetings a term in order to plan the year's events and to discuss how best to spend the money raised. You do not have to be a committee member to attend these meetings. All parents, carers and teachers are invited to attend.
You will receive regular PTA newsletters and flyers about forthcoming PTA events via your child's book bag. These will also be available under the 'Newsletters' heading on the PTA section of the school's website.
What is the PTA money used for?
The money raised by the PTA is used to provide things that our children would not otherwise have at school.
The most recent PTA purchases include the gazebo, the sandpit, the train and the table and benches for the Year 1 and 2 playground, some of which you can see in the photographs below. In previous years the PTA funded the purchase of the kiln, the adventure trail, updated literacy packs, story sacks and laptop computers.
The PTA also provides money for the children's Christmas parties and for in-school performances by theatre groups, poets and storytellers, all of which are chosen by the teachers in order to support the main school curriculum.

Can I get involved in the PTA?
The answer is: 'Yes, please!' The PTA is always looking for new members, new ideas and new helpers.
If you would like to get involved in planning PTA events and making decisions about spending the money the PTA raises you can do so by joining the PTA committee, or simply by attending the committee meetings. Everyone is welcome at the PTA committee meetings. You do not have to attend every meeting to make a difference.
If you cannot attend the PTA committee meetings but would like to receive a copy of the minutes by email, please send us your details via the 'Contact the PTA' link on the PTA section of the school's website.
If you are not able to attend the PTA meetings, you can still get involved. The PTA committee needs the help and support of as many parents as possible at the events they organise. The more helpers the PTA has, the more money we can raise for our children and the school.

If you would like to support your PTA in any way at all, from helping out occasionally at PTA events to attending PTA committee meetings and contributing your ideas, or joining the PTA committee, please contact us! You can get in touch with us by emailing us at pta9@marketharborough.leics.sch.uk or by leaving your contact details at the school office. You can now join us on Facebook too!
