Childrens Work: Foundation
The Foundation Stage curriculum is based on practical indoor and outdoor activities covering the six areas of learning - language, literacy and communication, mathematical development, knowledge and understanding of the world, creative development, physical development and personal and social development.
The children learn through a variety of methods ranging from teacher presentations, whole class and group work and independent access to activities thus developing the children's skills, knowledge and curiosity.
Throughout the year the children are able to explore their immediate environment through visits to the local park where we look at the colours and signs of autumn, the local bakery, library and travel agents. We also have visiting workshops for both the children and their carers.
The children are able to access our own school grounds where we look at the wildlife in the garden area and also follow the life cycle of the tadpole during the spring months.
As the Foundation Stage area has its own kitchen, the children participate regularly in cooking activities and are thrilled and proud to take home their cakes, jellies, biscuits, apple crumbles etc.
The staff work very closely as a team and our aim is to provide a happy, interesting and friendly environment for the children in their first year at school.
